Present: Senator Jennifer A. McEwen - Chair, Senator Grant Hauschild - Vice Chair, Senator Gene Dornink, Senator Glenn H. Gruenhagen, Senator Robert J. Kupec, Senator Bill Lieske, Senator John Marty, Senator Clare Oumou Verbeten, Senator Sandra L. Pappas, Senator Nathan Wesenberg

Absent: No Members Absent

Senator Grant Hauschild called the meeting to order at 12:49pm.

S.F. 2782: Senator McEwen: Labor and Industry appropriations provisions modifications.

Chair Grant Hauschild pulled Senate File 2782 from the table for discussion.

 

Senator Jennifer McEwen joined the witness stand, and offered the A-10 amendment.

            The motion carried along a voice vote, and the A-10 amendment, adopted.

 

Senator Sandra Pappas offered the A-9 amendment.

            Senator Clare Oumou Verbeten requested a roll call vote.

            Senator Clare Oumou Verbeten waived the request for a roll call vote.

                        The motion carried along a voice vote, and the A-9 amendment, adopted.

 

Senator McEwen offered the A-11 amendment.

            The motion carried along a voice vote, and the A-11 amendment, adopted.

 

Senator Gene Dornink offered the A-21 amendment.

            The motion failed along a voice vote, and the A-21 amendment was not adopted.

 

Senator Dornink offered the A-16 amendment.

            Senator Pappas moved to orally amend the A-16 amendment:

                        On line 1.7 delete “the following:”

                        On line 1.8 delete “(1)” and after “board” delete “;” and insert “.”

                        Delete lines 1.9 to 1.12.

 

Peter Butler, Minnesota Department of Human Services joined the witness stand to offer testimony regarding the A-16 amendment.

 

The A-16 amendment, as orally amended by the Pappas oral amendment, carried along a voice vote and the A-16 amendment as orally amended, adopted.

 

Senator Dornink offered the A-17 amendment.

            The motion failed on a voice vote and the A-17 amendment was not adopted. 

 

Senator Dornink moved to orally amend S.F. 2782:

            Page 59, line 24, delete “100” and insert “250”

                        The motion failed along a voice vote, and the Dornink oral amendment was not adopted. 

 

Senator Dornink offered the A-18 amendment.

            The motion failed along a voice vote, and the A-18 amendment was not adopted.

 

Senator Dornink offered the A-19 amendment.

            The motion failed along a voice vote, and the A-19 amendment was not adopted.

 

Senator Dornink offered the A-20 amendment.

            The motion failed along a voice vote, and the A-20 amendment was not adopted.

 

Senator Bill Lieske moved the A-12 amendment.

            Senator McEwen requested a roll call vote.

 

The following Senators voted in favor of adopting the A-12 amendment to S.F. 2782:

            Senator Dornink, Senator Gruenhagen, Senator Lieske, Senator Wesenberg.

 

The following Senators voted against adopting the A-12 amendment to S.F. 2782:

            Senator Hauschild, Senator McEwen, Senator Marty, Senator Oumou Verbeten, Senator Pappas.

 

The A-12 amendment failed on a vote of 4 in favor, 5 opposed, Kupec absent.

 

Senator Glenn Gruenhagen offered the A-13 amendment.

            Senator Gruenhagen withdrew the A-13 amendment.

 

Senator Gruenhagen requested a roll call vote on the final passage of S.F. 2782, and that it be recorded in the Senate Journal.

 

Senator McEwen moved that S.F. 2782 as amended, be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Senate Committee on Finance.

 

The following Senators voted in favor of passing S.F. 2782 as amended, and re-referred to the Senate Finance Committee:

            Senator Hauschild, Senator McEwen, Senator Kupec, Senator Marty, Senator Oumou Verbeten, Senator             Pappas.

 

The following Senators voted in opposition to S.F. 2782:

            Senator Dornink, Senator Gruenhagen, Senator Lieske, Senator Wesenberg.

 

S.F. 2782 as amended was recommended for passage and re-referred to the Senate Committee on Finance on a vote of 6 in favor, to 4 opposed.

 

Senator McEwen moved that S.F. 2782, as amended, recommended to pass and re-referred to the Finance Committee. - MOTION CARRIED.
