Senate Committee Hears Defense of Dwelling Act of 2011

Members of the Senate Finance Committee reviewed the 2011 Defense of Dwelling and Person Act on Thursday, February 9th. The bill's author, Senator Gretchen Hoffman, R, Vergas, said the bill is designed to strengthen the rights of individuals to protect themselves.

Senator Barb Goodwin, DFL, Columbia Heights, argued that a New York Times article describing Minnesota as a leading state for giving guns back to violent felons should be cause to send the bill back to the Judiciary Committee.
