Senator Jennifer A. McEwen called the meeting to order at 5:41pm.

Call to Order


S.F. 999: Senator Boldon: Installation requirement of adult-size changing facilities in restrooms accessible to public.

Senator Liz Boldon joined the witness stand to present Senate File 999.

 

Senator Rob Kupec moved the A-1 amendment be adopted.

            The motion carried along a voice vote and the amendment, adopted.

Senator Bill Lieske moved that S.F. 999 as amended, be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Senate Committee on State & Local Government and Veterans.

            The motion carried along a voice vote.

S.F. 2440: Senator Mohamed: Technical and housekeeping changes to construction codes and licensing provisions.

Senator Zaynab Mohamed joined the witness stand to present Senate File 2440.

 

Scott McLellan, Construction Codes & Licensing Director, Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry walks through the technical provisions of the bill.

 

Discussion.

 

S.F. 2440 is laid over for possible omnibus inclusion.

 

Senator McEwen moved that S.F. 2440, be laid over. - MOTION ADOPTED.

S.F. 1561: Senator Murphy: The Keeping Nurses at the Bedside Act of 2023.

Senator Erin Murphy joined the witness stand to present Senate File 1561.

 

Senator Kupec moved the A-11 amendment be adopted.

            The motion carried along a voice vote.

Senator John Marty moved that S.F. 1561 as amended, be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Senate Committee on Judiciary and Public Safety.

            The motion carried along a voice vote.

 

Senator Marty moved that S.F. 1561, as amended, recommended to pass and re-referred to the Judiciary and Public Safety Committee. - MOTION CARRIED.

S.F. 58: Senator Murphy: Worker safety requirements establishment and appropriation.

Senator Murphy presented Senate File 58.

 

Senator Marty moved the A-2 amendment be adopted.

            The motion carried along a voice vote and the amendment, adopted.

 

Senator Kupec moved the A-3 amendment be adopted.

            The motion carried along a voice vote and the amendment, adopted.

 

Bruce Nustad, President, Minnesota Retailers Association testified in opposition to S.F. 58 as amended.

 

Bruce Nustad and Kyle Makarios, Lobbyist, Teamsters joined the witness stand to answer member questions.

 

Senator Marty moved an oral amendment:

            Page 4, delete Section 2 and renumber the following sections accordingly, delete lines 4.13-4.16.

            The motion carried along a voice vote, and the oral amendment, adopted.

 

Senator Marty moved that S.F. 58 as amended, be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Senate Judiciary and Public Safety Committee.

            The motion carried along a voice vote.

 

Senator Marty moved that S.F. 58, as amended, recommended to pass and re-referred to the Finance Committee. - MOTION CARRIED.
