Senator Erin P. Murphy called the meeting to order at 12:37 pm.

Call to Order


S.F. 1927: Senator Maye Quade: Healthy eating, here at home program modification.

Senator Maye Quade presented SF 1927. Testimony was heard from Peter Woitock, Government Relations with Hunger Solutions MN; Sina Pleggenkuhle, Communications Director of the MN Farmers Market Association.

 

Chair Murphy laid SF 1927 over for possible inclusion in omnibus bill. 


Senator Murphy moved that S.F. 1927, be laid over for possible inclusion in the omnibus bill.

S.F. 402: Senator Kunesh: Community solutions establishment and appropriation for healthy child development grant.

Senator Kunesh presented SF 402. Senator Kunesh moved the A4 amendment.

 

Motion prevailed with unanimous voice vote. 

 

Senator Kunesh moved to orally amend A4. 

 

Senator Kunesh withdrew oral amendment. 

 

Testimony was heard from Rinal Ray, Voices and Choices Coalition for Children; Ying Li, Community Solutions Advisory Council; Ramya Palaniappan, Community Solutions.

 

Chair Murphy moved SF 402 as amended be recommended to pass and re-referred to the committee on Finance.

 

Senator Drazkowski requested division on Chair Murphy's motion. 

 

With 8 yeas and 6 nos, motion prevailed. 


Senator Murphy moved that S.F. 402, as amended, recommended to pass and re-referred to the Finance Committee. - MOTION PREVAILED.

S.F. 1031: Senator Cwodzinski: Minnesota State High School League governing board membership modification.

Senator Cwodzinski presented SF 1031.

 

Senator Cwodzinski moved to orally amend SF 1031 as follows: Page 1, line 6, delete "at least" and strike "20" and insert "22.  Page 1, line 12, strike "14" and insert "16". 

 

Motion prevailed with unanimous voice vote.

 

Testimony was heard from Erich Martens, Minnesota State High School League; Roger Aronson, Minnesota State High School League.

 

Chair Murphy moved SF 1031, as amended, be recommended to pass and re-referred to the committee on Education Policy. 

 

Motion prevailed with unanimous voice vote. 


Senator Murphy moved that S.F. 1031, as amended, recommended to pass and re-referred to the Education Policy Committee. - MOTION PREVAILED.

S.F. 1022: Senator Morrison: Legislative task force establishment to review and prioritize resources to support an aging demographic in the state.

Senator Morrison moved the A1 amendment. 

 

Motion prevailed with unanimous voice vote. 

 

Testimony was heard from Kris Sundberg, Elder Voice Advocates; Kathleen Kelso, MN Board on Aging; Leif Grina, Minneapolis Regional Retirees Council; Lisa Richards; Axel Kylander, MN Council on Disability; Kari Benson, MN Board on Aging; Nancy Jorgenson.

 

Senator Drazkowski moved to orally amended SF 1022 as follows: Page 3 line 13, delete everything after "force" and insert "shall not receive a per diem" .  Page 3, line 14 delete everything before the period.

 

Motion prevailed with unanimous voice vote. 

 

Chair Murphy moved SF 1022, as amended, be recommended to pass and re-referred to the committee on Rules and Administration. 

 

Motion prevailed with unanimous voice vote.
