Senator Steve A. Cwodzinski called the meeting to order at 12:47 pm.

Confirmation of Minnesota Department of Education Commissioner Jett

Chair Cwodzinski moved to recommend that the appointment of Willie Jett as Commissioner of Education be confirmed.

 

Commissioner Willie Jett presented before the committee.

 

Chair Cwodzinski renewed the motion to recommend that the appointment of Willie Jett as Commissioner of Education be confirmed and voted on before the Senate Floor. A voice vote was taken. The motion prevailed.


Senator Cwodzinski moved that Confirmation of Minnesota Department of Education Commissioner Jett, be recommended to pass.

S.F. 635: Senator Kunesh: American Indian regalia or objects of cultural significance at graduation ceremonies permission.

Chair Cwodzinski moved SF635 to be heard in committee, on the table for potential future inclusion in the omnibus.

Senator Kunesh presented SF635.

Senator Kunesh renewed the motion that SF635 be laid over for possible inclusion in the omnibus bill. A voice vote was taken. The motion prevailed.


Senator Kunesh moved that S.F. 635, be laid over and maybe considered for omnibus bill.

S.F. 579: Senator Maye Quade: Lead testing and remediation requirements in schools modification and appropriation.

Chair Cwodzinski moved SF579 to be heard in committee; be referred to the Committee on Education Finance.

 

Senator Maye Quade presented SF579.

Senator Maye Quade renewed the motion that SF579 be referred to the Committee on Education Finance. A voice vote was taken. The motion prevailed.

 


Senator Maye Quade moved that S.F. 579, be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Education Finance Committee. - MOTION PREVAILED.
