Vice Chair Senator Mohamed calls the hybrid Jobs and Economic Development Committee Meeting to order at 12:35 PM conducted in Minnesota Senate Building room 1100 and over zoom broadcast.

S.F. 2: Senator Mann: Paid family and medical leave establishment and appropriation.

Before the presentations begins on SF 2, the A1 amendment is introduced by Senator Mann at 12:38 PM.

 

Senator Putnam offers a motion to pass A1 amendment at 12:39 PM. The motion prevails by voice vote and the amendment is adopted.

 

Senate Counsel, Ms. Fontaine, gives presentation on the Jurisdictions for the Jobs and Economic Development Committee on SF2 at 12:39 PM.

 

Senator Champion introduces Senator Mann and she begins her presentation on SF2, Paid Family Medical Leave Establishment and Appropriation at 12:41 PM. Senator Mann ends her presentation at 12:45.

 

 

Debb Fitzpatrick, Director of Policy and Research, Children’s Defense Fund Minnesota, continues presentation on Paid Family Medical Leave to give an overview on how the proposed program would work at 12:45 PM and ending at 12:49 PM.

 

Toni Mangskua, Volunteer/Family Caregiver, AARP, ISAIAH, National Patient Advocate Foundation, continues the presentation on SF2, Paid Family Medical Leave Establishment and Appropriation, beginning at 12:50 PM. And ending at 12:53 PM.

 

Questions on testimony from Toni Mangskua begins at 12:54 PM and Senator Housley asks a question regrading a walkthrough of each section on the bill.

Senator Nelson moved that S.F. 2, as amended, recommended to pass and re-referred to the Labor Committee.
