Senator Jim Abeler called the meeting to order at 1:04pm.

S.F. 3395: Senator Senjem: Statutory procedure establishment and appropriation to assess the competency of a defendant to stand trial.

Senator Murphy moved the bill, SF3395, before the committee.

Senator Senjem presented the bill, SF3395.

Senator Murphy moved that S.F. 3395, be referred to the Judiciary and Public Safety Finance and Policy Committee without recommendation. - MOTION PREVAILED.

S.F. 3728: Senator Abeler: Statutory procedure to assess competency of a defendant to stand trial establishment.

Senator Housley moved the bill, SF3728, before the committee.

Senator Abeler presented the bill, SF3728.

Senator Housley moved the A-3 amendment before the committee.

Senator Murphy offered the following oral amendment:

Page 2, line 12, before the period, insert “; and (25) a pediatrician appointed by the Minnesota Academy of Pediatrics

The oral amendment was incorporated into the A-3 amendment.

Senator Housley moved to adopt the A-3 amendment to SF3728.

Motion prevailed on a voice vote. The amendment was adopted.

 

Senator Abeler moved the A-2 amendment before the committee.

Senator Abeler offered the following oral amendment:

Page 1, line 5, after the period, insert “This is a onetime appropriation.

The oral amendment was incorporated into the A-2 amendment.

Senator Abeler moved to adopt the A-2 amendment to SF3728.

Motion prevailed on a voice vote. The amendment was adopted.

 

 


Senator Murphy moved that S.F. 3728, as amended and referred to the Judiciary and Public Safety Finance and Policy Committee without recommendation. - MOTION PREVAILED.
