Present: Senator Jason Rarick - Vice Chair, Senator Gregory D. Clausen, Senator Michael P. Goggin, Senator John R. Jasinski, Senator Aric Putnam

Absent: Senator David J. Tomassoni - Chair

Senator Rarick, Vice Chair, called the meeting to order at 1:02 p.m. A quorum was present.

S.F. 3093: Senator Tomassoni: Student financial aid, institutional licensure provisions and institutional grant programs policy changes provisions.

Dennis Olson, Commissioner of the Office of Higher Education (OHE), presented a power point on The Walz-Flanagan Higher Education Budget Priorities (see handouts 1 and 2).

Questions and comments from committee members ensued. 

The following staff with the OHE answered further questions of committee members:

    1) Meredith Fergus, Director of Research and Manager of SLEDS (Statewide Longitudinal Education Data System)

    2) Nekey Oliver, Director of Grants and Government Relations

Nekey Oliver outlined the OHE policy bill, Senate File 3093, chief-authored by Senator Tomassoni (see bill summary and bill). 

Questions and comments from committee members ensued.

Commissioner Olson presented closing comments.

Senator Rarick announced that S.F. 3093 would be laid over for possible inclusion in the Higher Education omnibus bill.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 1:40 p.m.
