Present: Senator Gary H. Dahms - Chair, Senator Jeff R. Howe Vice Chair, Senator Karin Housley, Senator Melisa López Franzen, Senator Lindsey Port, Senator Paul J. Utke

Senator Gary H. Dahms called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. A quorum was present.

S.F. 1391: Senator Howe: Debt settlement service providers regulation.

Senator Howe moved Senate File 1391 before the committee. Senator Howe offered the A-2 amendment. Motion carried. Senator Howe presented Senate File 1391 as amended. Tony Kwilas, National Association of Enrolled Agents, testifed in favor of Senate File 1391 as amended.


Senator Howe moved that S.F. 1391, as amended, be recommended to pass. - MOTION PREVAILED.

S.F. 1284: Senator Housley: Checking account requirements modifications.

Senator Housley moved Senate File 1284 before committee. Senator Housley offered A-1 amendment. Motion carried. Senator Housley presented Senate File 1284 as amended. Ryan Smith, Minnesota Credit Union Network, testified in favor of Senate File 1284 as amended.


Senator Housley moved that S.F. 1284, as amended, be recommended to pass. - MOTION PREVAILED.

S.F. 1846: Senator Dahms: Department of commerce provisions technical and reporting modifications.

Chairman Dahms passed the gavel to Vice-Chair Utke.

 

Senator Dahms moved Senate File 1846 before the committee. Senator Dahms offered the A-2 amendment. Motion carried. Senator Dahms presented Senate File 1846 as amended. Grace Arnold, Interim Commissioner of the Department of Commerce testified in favor of Senate File 1846 as amended. Discussion.
