Present: Senator Andrew Mathews - Chair, Senator Warren Limmer - Vice Chair, Senator Bruce D. Anderson, Senator Karla Bigham, Senator Jim Carlson, Senator Mark Johnson, Senator Ron Latz, Senator Torrey N. Westrom

Absent: No Members Absent

Senator Andrew Mathews called the meeting to order at 1:07 PM A quorum was present

Call to Order


S.F. 532: Senator Duckworth: Custody and parenting time notice to parties update authorization.

Senator Bigham moves SF 532 before the committee.

 

Senator Bigham offers the A21 author’s amendment. 

 

The motion prevails and the amendment is adopted.  

 

Senator Duckworth introduces Diannne Anderson, Steven Erickson, and Tony Alfonso. 

 

Dianne Anderson is a former state representative, and worked on the original legislation that is currently in place. She testifies in support of the bill.

 

Steven Erickson is a teacher at Augsberg University, he is also a mediator for the Minnesota Appeals Court. Mr. Erickson testifies in support of the bill.

 

Tony Alfonso, a constituent testifies in support of the bill.

 

Seeing no more questions, Senator Bigham renews her motion that SF 532 be recommended to pass as amended and placed on general orders. 

 

The motion prevails, the bill has passed and on it’s way to the floor.

 

 


Senator Bigham moved that S.F. 532, be recommended to pass. - MOTION PREVAILED.

S.F. 363: Senator Cwodzinski: Veterans stable housing initiative establishment; homeless veterans data classification; data sharing authorization.

Senator Bigham moves SF 363 for Senator Cswodzinski.

 

Senator Cswodzinski gives opening remarks and a summary of his bill. He introduces his two testifiers.  

 

Mr. Andrew Garvis is the director of Veterans Programs and Memorial Affairs with the Minnesota Department of Veterans, and he testifies in support of SF 363.

 

Ms. Sloan Kessler is a Homeless Programs Coordinator with the Minnesota Department of Veteran's Affairs. She also is testifying in support of the bill.

 

Member questions for testifiers and discussion.

 

Senator Bigham renews her motion that SF 363 be recommended to pass and placed on general orders.

 

The motion prevails, and the motion is on it’s way to general orders.
