Senator Patricia Torres Ray called the meeting to order at 2:07 p.m. S.F. 617-Housley: Military Spouses and Families Day. Testifiers: Richard Glasgow, Veteran and Board Member of Dear American Hero Senator Pappas moved an oral amendment in line 1.9 to delete ‘shall’ and replace it with ‘is requested to.’ MOTION PREVAILED. Senator Hall moved an oral amendment to insert ‘residents of the state are encouraged to display an American flag’ in line 1.9 after the period. MOTION PREVAILED. Senator Housley moved that SF 617 be recommended to pass as amended and sent to the floor. MOTION PREVAILED. S.F. 74-Gazelka: Camp Ripley sentinel landscape designation and coordinating committee establishment. Senator Hall offered the A 1 amendment. MOTION PREVAILED. Testifiers: Don Kerr, Military Affairs Jay Brezynka, Environmental Supervisor, Camp Ripley Senator Andersen moved that SF 74 be recommended to pass as amended and sent to the Committee on Finance. MOTION PREVAILED. S.F. 222-Benson: Veteran-owned small business certification for state procurement modification and contract bid preference and appropriation. Testifiers: Jerry Kyser Patrick Heinz, League of Minnesota Cities Senator Scalze moved an oral amendment to delete the word ‘must’ and replace it with ‘may’ in lines 3.11, 3.24 and 4.10. In addition to insert the word ‘small’ after ‘veteran-owned’ in line 3.11. Senator Johnson moved that SF 222 be recommended to pass as amended and sent to the Committee on Finance. MOTION PREVAILED. S.F. 338-Saxhaug: Government entity authority to release certain military release forms to another government entity expansion. Testifiers: Susan Anderson, MN Association of County Officers Senator Pappas moved that SF 338 be recommended to pass and sent to the Judiciary Policy Committee. MOTION PREVAILED. S.F. 427-Saxhaug: Veterans trust modifications; Big Island veterans camp board of governors repeal. Senator Eaton moved an oral amendment to insert ‘big island veterans’ after the third ‘the’ in page 1 line 9. MOTION PREVAILED. Testifiers: Dean Ascheman, MN Veterans 4 Veterans Trust Fund Board of Directors Senator Eaton moves that SF 427 be recommended to pass as amended and sent to the floor. MOTION PREVAILED. S.F. 362-Anderson, B.: Veterans Honor and Remember Flag designation as a symbol of recognition and honor for fallen military service members Senator Anderson will offer the A-1 author’s amendment. MOTION PREVAILED. Testifiers: Pat LaBelle, Honor and Remember Jerry Kyser, United Veterans Legislative Council of MN Ron Mackedanz, Honor and Remember Ralph Donais, United Veterans Legislative Council of MN Senator Anderson moved that SF 362 be recommended to pass as amended and sent to the Committee on Finance.
