Present: Senator Michelle R. Benson, Senator David M. Brown, Senator Gary H. Dahms, Senator Kenneth S. Kelash, Senator Gary W. Kubly, Senator Doug Magnus, Senator Jeremy R. Miller, Senator Carla J. Nelson, Senator Sean R. Nienow, Senator Julie A. Rosen, Senator Tom Saxhaug, Senator Rod Skoe, Senator LeRoy A. Stumpf

Senator Doug Magnus called the meeting to order at 1:17 p.m. Senator Magnus announced that it was his mother’s birthday and Committee Administrator Jennifer Berquam’s birthday. One week from today, the committee will meet in a joint meeting with the Senate Energy, Utilities and Telecommunications Committee. Members are encouraged to attend if possible. Agenda items include discussion of natural gas and energy issues. National experts will be coming in. The meeting will be held in room 123 Capitol at 3:00 p.m. Senator Brown moved that Senate File 1534 be recommended to pass and sent to the Energy, Utilities, and Telecommunications Committee. He presented his bill. The following people testified on the bill: • Doug Peterson, Minnesota Farmers Union President • Ryan Wolf, Wolf Wind Development Discussion by members. Senator Brown renewed his motion. Motion prevailed. Prior to committee meeting, Senator Kubly invited Robert Ryan from European Energy Connections to inform the committee on energy efficiency. Mr. Ryan provided a presentation entitled “The Application of Advanced International Renewable Technologies to Minnesota Manufacturers. Distribution Systems and the End Users.” Discussion from members. Mr. Ryan thanked the committee for their time. Greta Gauthier, the Director of Government Relations from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, provided and update on the Next Generation Energy Board. Discussion from members. Ms. Gautier assured committee members that she will have a written report to members soon.

Senator Brown moved that S.F. 1534, be recommended to pass and re-referred to the . - MOTION PREVAILED.
