I have enjoyed my first term in the Minnesota Senate. I advocated consistently for limited government, decreased regulation, and free markets. I have always worked hard to promote those issues that were at the heart of my campaign. 

Prior to my election to represent SD 58 in the Senate, I spent 7 and 1/2 years hosting, "The Dave Thomspon Show" on AM 1500 KSTP, in addition to providing conservative commentary on the Emmy Award winning news program, "At Issue with Tom Hauser." I am currently employed as in-house counsel for Twin Cities Power,  LLC, a business located in my district.

I am active in my church, Trinity Evangelical Free. I am also a voracious reader and enjoy all kinds of music from Mozart to Led Zeppelin. My favorite title in life is "Dad." I have been married to my wife, Rhonda, for 26 years. We have two amazing children. Amanda graduated from  Lakeville South in the spring of 2011, and is now a sophmore at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. Phil is a junior at Lakeville South.
