          The Legislature is currently in session, focusing on job growth and strengthening Minnesota’s economy, reforming government, and considering capital investment projects.

          As chair of the Senate Higher Education Committee, I am working on reforms that will make our state’s higher education systems even stronger. Last fall, I had the chance to visit many of our campuses and talk with those on the ground about what is most needed. To ensure that our institutions are as responsive as possible to the needs of the state and regional economies they serve, we must align education and training with the needs of the businesses they serve.
