| Senator Michelle Benson Wins 2012 Tekne Award “Technology will be a key component of an effective, efficient government ready for the next 20 years,” said Senator Benson | ||||||||||
(ST. PAUL) – State Senator Michelle Benson (R-Ham Lake) will be honored on November 1st with a 2012 Tekne Award for Public Service. The Tekne Awards are sponsored by the Minnesota High Tech Association (MHTA) which represents more than 350 technology companies and organizations from across the state.
“Minnesota must apply the best practices from both the public and private sector to reform and redesign government. Technology will be a critical component of continually improving government. ” said Senator Benson.
The Minnesota High Tech Association created this award to honor businesses and individuals who provide outstanding service to advance technology and innovation in Minnesota. Senator Benson is being singled out for her efforts and leadership in consolidating Minnesota’s information technology services and advancing technology and innovation within state government.
Senator Benson continued, “I was proud to carry two bills that used proven technology to detect welfare and Medicaid fraud. As a member of the OET oversight group I have seen technology transformation at work.”
In addition to featuring the second class of Public Service Award winners and the induction of the fifth class into the Minnesota Science and Technology Hall of Fame, 15 companies will be awarded as outstanding innovators among 44 finalists.
