HONOR OUR VETERANS

Statement from Senator Senjem on Memorial Day

Rochester- Senate Majority Leader David Senjem gave the following statement in honor of Memorial Day.

“On Memorial Day, we remember and honor the men and women who have served and made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. In humble and all too often inadequate ways we look at ways to honor our veterans' service and their dedication to preserving our freedoms and a way of life we all too often take for granted. Our veterans have given us the strength to endure as a nation and a patriotic example to live by. They have and continue to secure our safety here at home and in remote locations around the world where peace is threatened and terrorism is contemplated.

“To be sure, we owe our veterans, past and present, a heartfelt thank you for all that they have done as a part of their duty and devotion to our great country. All served and sacrificed for something greater than themselves and in the process preserved and protected our freedoms. For those of us who are recipients of what our veterans have done, let us never forget our need to regularly honor their service and keep the memory of those who have given their all alive and never forgotten.

“This Memorial Day, let's take a moment to remember and thank God for the brave military men and women who have sacrificed so much so that we might live in peace and freedom. And, let us also never forget that ‘freedom is not free’ but a precious gift from our veterans -- a gift that we remember with special gratitude this Memorial Day and every day in the days and years to come.”
