Sen. Bakk calls on Senate Republicans to stop finger-pointing and lead

St. Paul – Senator Tom Bakk (DFL-Cook) responded to Republican claims that Senate DFLers are to blame for the lack of progress on the major issues before the 2012 State Legislature:

“In recent days, it has become painfully clear that the Republican majority in the Senate is either unwilling or unable to bring this session to a constructive conclusion. Failing to build consensus among themselves, Senate Republicans have now resorted to pointing the finger at the DFL. At a time that requires leadership, it is discouraging to see them more focused on passing out blame than finishing the work at hand.

The Republican majority controls the Senate’s agenda and ultimately what bills get passed to the Governor. We can help, but the majority party has to lead. I urge Senate Republicans to stop making excuses and take the action necessary to move this legislature and our state forward.”
