(St. Paul) - Senator Dave Brown (R – Becker) announced today that Big Lake High School in Big Lake will receive a $10,708 grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board.
The grant is funded by Minnesota’s Legacy Amendment and awarded by the Minnesota State Arts Board, through an appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.
“The additional funding for Big Lake High School arts programs will provide opportunities for the school’s creative students,” said Brown. “I am happy to see Legacy Amendment dollars being used to support arts in our community.”
The grant was made under the Arts Board’s Arts Learning grant program. The Arts Board selected 46 grantees from a pool of 90 applicants from across the state, to receive awards. The grants totaled $2,257,243. The Arts Learning program is designed to provide opportunities for lifelong learners to acquire knowledge, understanding, and skills in the arts.
Big Lake High School will enhance and increase student opportunities to create, perform, and respond to art by collaborating with artists and organizations to provide high quality experiences that are accessible to all students.
