| Senator Nelson Announces Minnesota State Arts Board Legacy Amendment Grant for Rochester Community and Technical College | ||||||||||||
St. Paul- Senator Carla Nelson (R-Rochester) announced Thursday that Rochester Community and Technical College in Rochester will receive a $24,750 grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. The grant is funded by Minnesota’s Legacy Amendment and awarded by the Minnesota State Arts Board, through an appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.
The grant was made under the Arts Board’s Arts Learning grant program. The Arts Board selected 46 grantees from a pool of 90 applicants from across the state, to receive awards. The grants totaled $2,257,243. The Arts Learning program is designed to provide opportunities for lifelong learners to acquire knowledge, understanding, and skills in the arts. A complete list of grantees is available on the Arts Board Web site at http://www.arts.state.mn.us/grants/2012/2012-awarded-mfs.htm
The Writer's LIFE Project gives older Minnesotans the opportunity to learn, hone, and practice their creative writing skills with an award-winning teaching artist. Participants will learn how to create, revise, and improve upon original written work.
“Legacy Amendment and other Arts Board grants provide creative experiences for the young, young at heart, and all those between,” said Senator Nelson, “regardless of where one resides in Minnesota.”
Legacy Amendment arts and cultural heritage funds are used to support arts and arts access, arts education, and arts and cultural heritage throughout Minnesota.
The Minnesota State Arts Board is a state agency dedicated to ensuring that all Minnesotans have the opportunity to participate in the arts.
