| Senator Dan Hall, Minnesota Senate Convenes 2012 Legislative Session | ||||||||||||
St. Paul—The Minnesota Senate convened Tuesday for the start of the 2012 Legislative Session. Senator Dan Hall (R-Burnsville) is serving his second session in the Minnesota Senate. Senator Hall gave the following statement regarding the new legislative session.
“It’s great to be back in St. Paul for the 2012 legislative session. During the interim, I was able to meet with folks in district, listen to their concerns and develop solutions. Last session, we were handed a $5 billion deficit. Now, state economists forecast an $876 million surplus. This is a result of our focus on sensible government and fiscal responsibility. I’m looking forward to building on those achievements in 2012,” said Senator Hall.
Senator Hall is Vice Chair on the Committee for Environment and Natural Resources and also serves on the Committees for Health and Human Services and Judiciary and Public Safety.
“My legislative priority this session is putting Minnesotans back to work. This means looking at reforms that address regulatory and permitting roadblocks for job creators. Many of my constituents have asked that I look at fiscal disparities or ‘tax sharing’ and how it impacts the tax burden on Minnesotans,” added Senator Hall. “We thrive as a whole when Minnesota families are strong. I am dedicated to ensuring our children receive the best education by keeping dollars in the classroom and the reins in the hands of parents and local educators. I will also be advocating for reforms to our judicial system to protect the critical family structure that is the foundation of our society.”
Senator Hall was elected to his first term in the Minnesota State Senate in November 2010. Senator Hall can be reached at: 651-296-5975 (office) or sen.dan.hall@senate.mn.
