| SENATOR MICHELLE BENSON APPOINTED TO GOVERNOR’S HEALTH CARE REFORM TASK FORCE | ||||||||||||
St. Paul—Senator Michelle Benson (R-Ham Lake) was appointed to the Governor’s Health Care Reform Task Force. The first meeting of the Task Force is Monday, November 14th. The mission of the Task Force is to provide recommendations about how Minnesota can best deliver quality health care at a lower price. Governor Mark Dayton has appointed leaders from business, labor, foundations, the public sector, and Minnesota's health care organizations to the Health Care Reform Task Force. Senator Benson and Senator Sean Nienow (R-Cambridge) were chosen to represent the State Senate as members of the Task Force (for a full list of members, click here ( http://mn.gov/governor/images/MinnesotaHealthCareReformTaskForceMembers.pdf )).
“I’m thrilled to be asked to serve on the Governor’s Health Care Reform Task Force. Health care is a rapidly growing expense for Minnesota and we need to identify sustainable solutions that maintain the quality and availability of health care. Furthermore, many job providers cite the high cost of health care as a factor in their decision not to hire. Health care reform will ease that burden on job creators and allow them to employ more people here in Minnesota,” said Senator Benson. “I look forward to listening to business leaders and health care experts and I will work to encourage a Minnesota-based, free market solution.”
