| SENATOR CARLA NELSON & SENATE LEADERSHIP MEET WITH ROCHESTER BUSINESS LEADERS | ||||||||||||
Rochester- Senate Majority Leader Amy Koch (R-Buffalo), Assistant Majority Leader Geoff Michel (R-Edina) and Senator Carla Nelson (R-Rochester) met with Rochester business leaders Thursday, October 27. The Senators’ day included a meeting with the Rochester Chamber of Commerce and meetings at the Mayo Clinic. Job providers and business leaders weighed in and suggested legislative initiatives that would promote economic growth in Minnesota.
“Our meetings today with the Rochester Chamber and with the Mayo Clinic were extremely valuable. My colleagues in the Senate and I are focused on legislation that gives job providers and innovators, like the Mayo Clinic, the latitude to grow and prosper in our great state. It is so critical that we meet with the experts – real Minnesotans who own businesses and provide jobs – in advance of the 2012 legislative session to gain that feedback,” said Senator Nelson. “I was particularly interested in hearing about how we might use technology to streamline interactions between private businesses and government agencies so businesses can thrive and create jobs. It is that sort of future-oriented leadership that we need to support and I am committed to working in conjunction with them so we can get Minnesotans back to work.”
