| Sen. Sieben to Host Flu Shot Clinics and Hold Office Hours Visits will be held around the district | ||||||||||||
State Sen. Katie Sieben will host flu shot clinics in area communities next month and will host office hours at the same time to meet with interested residents. The clinics and office hours will be held in Hastings and Cottage Grove on Tuesday, October 18.
The flu shot clinics are run by the Minnesota Visiting Nurses Agency, a non-profit, United Way agency that works with communities and businesses to provide quality public health services. The MVNA was established in 1902 and has received numerous awards from the Minnesota Department of Health for their partnerships to aid public health in the state.
The clinics and office hours on October 18 will be held as follows:
• Hastings City Hall, Community Room, 101 E. 4th St., 8-10 a.m.
• Cottage Grove Senior Center, 8400 E. Point Douglas Rd. S, Noon to 2 p.m.
“Flu season is here, and the best way to protect against influenza is to get a flu shot,” Sen. Sieben said. “And, if you would like to speak with me about any issues of concern or other ideas, please feel free to stop by and chat.”
Anyone wishing to receive a flu shot should bring their insurance cards to the flu clinic. The MVNA accepts 16 insurance plans and provides the shots free-of-charge. Anyone without coverage can receive a shot for $27.
Insurance plans the MVNA accepts:
America’s PPO, Aetna, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, Health Partners, Humana, Labor Care, Medica, MCHA-Medica, Medicare, MHP, Minnesota Health Care (MA), Select Care, UCare, Unicare and United Health Care.
“I encourage anyone who needs a flu shot to visit one of the clinics offered,” Sen. Sieben said. “I also look forward to anyone wishing to speak with me about the upcoming legislative session and other issues.”
