(St. Paul) – House and Senate legislators will tour forest industry businesses and community groups in Northern Minnesota on Friday, September 9. The legislators will discuss solutions and listen to ideas to encourage the growth and expansion of Minnesota’s forest industry.
Senator John Carlson (R-Bemidji), a member of the Senate Environment and Natural Resources Committee, will host Senate Environment and Natural Resources Chair Bill Ingebrigtsen (R-Alexandria), House Environment, Energy and Natural Resources Chair Denny McNamara (R-Hastings), committee members and area legislators on the day-long tour.
“The forest industry plays a vital role in Minnesota's economy and promotes thousands of jobs in both the public and private sectors,” stated Sen. Carlson. “Minnesota’s forests are a resource for products developed by Minnesota companies and used throughout the world. I look forward to hosting my colleagues and working with area businesses and community groups toward forest industry development and job growth.”
The legislators will begin in Hackensack and travel to Park Rapids, Cass Lake, Bemidji, and Solway. All visits, tours, presentations and meetings are open to members of the media.
