SENATOR INGEBRIGTSEN RECEIVES COALITION OF GREATER MINNESOTA CITIES “LEGISLATOR OF DISTINCTION AWARD”

(ST. PAUL) -- Sen. Bill Ingebrigtsen (R-Alexandria) received the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities “Legislator of Distinction Award, Environment Policy.” Sen. Ingebrigtsen was formally presented with the award during an Alexandria City Council meeting on August 22, 2011.

Each year, the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities (CGMC) honors legislators, city officials and rural chambers of commerce for their work on behalf of Greater Minnesota. Sen. Ingebrigtsen’s efforts during the 2011 legislative session to benefit rural Minnesota included: streamlining and creating efficiencies in the environmental permitting process, reforming operations to prevent new environmental fees and unfunded mandates, and coordinating Minnesota and neighboring states’ phosphorous standards to save taxpayer dollars when seeking wastewater treatment facilities improvements.

Sen. Ingebrigtsen was also one of the leading supporters on implementing equitable park funding for Rural Regional Parks within the Legacy Amendment. His advocacy resulted in exclusive funding and a near 100% increase for Greater Minnesota parks.

“I thank the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities for this award, it is an honor to be recognized by this organization and to serve Greater Minnesota,” commented Sen. Ingebrigtsen. “It is important to implement legislation that benefits Greater Minnesota by protecting our natural resources, growing the economy, and eliminating unnecessary burdens and mandates on our local communities. I look forward to working with the Coalition in the future.”

The Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities seeks to unite city officials and legislators to discuss issues confronting Greater Minnesota. For more than 30 years, the CGMC has worked with policy makers throughout Greater Minnesota on issues such as land use, economic development, environment, energy, local government aid, and transportation.
