Sen. Rest appointed to State Capitol Preservation Commission

Senator Ann H. Rest (DFL-New Hope) was recently appointed to the State Capitol Preservation Commission by Senate DFL Leader Tom Bakk. As a member of the Commission, Sen. Rest will work to develop a comprehensive, multiyear, pre-design financial plan for the restoration of the Capitol building.

“Our Capitol is an historic building that is in dire need of restoration,” said Sen. Rest. “As the building grows older, we need to continue to update technology and keep up maintenance. I am pleased to be a part of the Commission that will preserve the beauty and update the functionality and integrity of one of Minnesota’s greatest icons.”

Sen. Rest will serve on the Commission with 15 other members, including Gov. Mark Dayton (Chair of the Commission), Lt. Gov. Yvonne Prettner Solon (Vice-Chair of the Commission) and Attorney General Lori Swanson. The Commission’s first meeting has not been set, but Sen. Rest expects their work will begin sometime in late August.
