| SENATOR MILLER ANNOUNCES HE WILL NOT ACCEPT PAY DURING A SHUTDOWN | ||||||||||||
(ST. PAUL) -- Sen. Jeremy Miller (R-Winona) announced that he will not accept his legislative salary or per diem payments should a state government shutdown occur.
“I will not accept my salary or any per diem in the event of a government shutdown,” Sen. Miller said.
“A shutdown would have a lasting, negative impact on all Minnesotans, and it is a situation we are working hard to avoid. I am committed to reaching a budget agreement as quickly as possible, and I remain optimistic that we can arrive at a solution in time to prevent a shutdown,” Miller added.
Members of the legislature remain hopeful an agreement with the governor can be reached, and negotiations will continue in an attempt to avert a state government shutdown on July 1.
Legislative leaders and Gov. Dayton are currently scheduled to continue budget negotiations through the weekend.
