| SENATOR INGEBRIGTSEN ANNOUNCES HE WILL NOT ACCEPT PAY DURING A SHUTDOWN | ||||||||||||
(ST. PAUL) -- Sen. Bill Ingebrigtsen (R-Alexandria) announced today that he will not accept legislative salary or per diem payments in the event of a state government shutdown.
“As I stated during my campaign, I will not accept my salary or daily per diem should we enter a government shutdown,” Sen. Ingebrigtsen said.
“The impact of a potential shutdown affects all Minnesotans. My refusal to accept pay is a small demonstration of my commitment to reach a budget agreement as quickly as possible,” Ingebrigtsen added.
Members of the legislature remain hopeful an agreement with the governor can be reached, and negotiations will continue in attempt to avert a state government shutdown on July 1.
The next scheduled meeting between Republican legislative leaders and Gov. Dayton is at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, June 22.
