| Legislators to Hold Town Meetings in June | ||||||||||||
State Sen. Ron Latz will join Reps. Steve Simon and Ryan Winkler to host town hall meetings in Golden Valley, Hopkins and St. Louis Park in the coming weeks to discuss the recently concluded legislative session and the potential special session to deal with the state’s budget deficit.
“We have been here at the Capitol for over four months, seeking an equitable and reasonable solution to fill the state’s budget deficit,” Sen. Latz noted. “Gov. Dayton has unilaterally compromised three times on his budget proposal, but Republican legislators have refused to offer even one compromise counter-offer in response. Unfortunately, we now face another special session and possible government shutdown.”
Rep. Simon added: “This was a tough session and it was difficult to find budget solutions, we want to hear what the people of our area have to say about what lies ahead for the state and how we should approach the budget crisis.”
“Although the budget deficit took center stage this year, other important issues such as education and transportation were debated,” Rep. Winkler said. “It’s been a challenging session. Hearing from the people of our area on these and other issues is extremely important to us.”
