| SENATOR WARREN LIMMER REACTS TO VOTER ID VETO | ||||||||||||
St. Paul- Governor Mark Dayton vetoed Senate File 509 Thursday, a bill that would bring the election process into the 21st century with Voter ID. A recent poll found that nearly 80% of Minnesota voters want to show their photo ID when they go vote. Chief Author, Senator Warren Limmer (R-Maple Grove) gave the following statement in response.
“I’m saddened by today’s news. I am greatly disappointed that Governor Dayton did not sign the Voter ID bill that would bring about quality, speed and efficiency to Minnesota’s voting process. With nearly 10,000 phone calls made to his office, Voter ID was one of the most popular issues this session. My only message to the Governor at this time is that you can’t hide from the voters. Minnesotans are watching and they want certainty that their votes will not be disenfranchised due to someone else voting when they shouldn’t be,” said Senator Limmer. “This issue is not going away. The public is demanding greater security when they vote.”
