| SENATOR DAVE THOMPSON STATEMENT ON RAMSEY COUNTY AND VIKINGS STADIUM DEAL ANNOUNCEMENT | ||||||||||||
St. Paul– Senator Dave Thompson (R-Lakeville) released the following statement in response to the announcement by Ramsey County and Minnesota Vikings officials Tuesday. The Minnesota Vikings, along with Ramsey County officials announced that they had reached a stadium deal in Arden Hills. Their announcement comes on the heels a Star Tribune poll that found more than 60 percent of Minnesotans object to a publicly funded Vikings stadium.
“Minnesota's economy is sluggish, and unemployment remains too high. Instead of funding a stadium to help million dollar athletes pay their mortgages, the legislature should be focused on creating a business friendly environment that facilitates job creation and investment,” said Senator Thompson. “I am committed to efficient government, sensible spending, and decreased regulation so that all families and job-providers can thrive in Minnesota. A taxpayer funded stadium in no way contributes to the financial health of average households in Minnesota”
