| SENATOR DAVE THOMPSON COMMENTS ON SENATOR DAVID HANN’S WASHINGTON DC TRIP | ||||||||||
(ST. PAUL) -- Assistant Majority Leader Dave Thompson (R-Lakeville) issued the following statement on Senator David Hann’s (R-Eden Prairie) trip to Washington DC:
“In order to meet the Health and Human Services budget target, Minnesota needs to obtain waivers from federal mandates that restrict our ability to manage our budget. Unfortunately, Governor Dayton has refused to engage in the process.
Health and Human Services Committee Chairman Senator David Hann is in Washington meeting with members of Minnesota’s congressional delegation to make progress on the waiver issue. If we are unable to obtain some or all of these waivers, we will have no choice but to find spending reductions elsewhere in the budget.
Governor Dayton can help, but he has chosen not to do so. Bi-partisan cooperation on this issue would be very helpful. If the Governor is serious about his budget priorities, he should be willing to work with Senator Hann and others to resolve this issue.”
