| SENATOR CARLA NELSON INTRODUCES BILL IN SUPPORT OF ROCHESTER CHILDREN'S MUSEUM | ||||||||||||
St. Paul- Senator Carla Nelson's (R-Rochester) bill to provide $1 million in Legacy Funds to the Minnesota Children's Museum was heard in Senate Environment and Natural Resources Committee Wednesday. S.F. 1263 designates $700,000 from the Arts and Cultural Heritage portion of the Legacy Funds towards the establishment of a satellite Children’s Museum in Rochester.
“Children are our heritage. Therefore it’s appropriate that we spend Arts and Cultural Heritage funds on children. Rochester is a growing community with many young families. Not to mention, millions of people visit the city each year. Without a doubt, Rochester can sustain this endeavor in partnership with the Minnesota Children’s Museum,” said Senator Nelson. “It’s critical that we support efforts that incorporate science, art, history, culture and fun to enrich our children’s lives. I’m proud to author this bill which engages Minnesota’s future generations, our true heritage.
Senator Nelson's bill was included in the Environment and Natural Resources Committee Dedicated Funding bill which passed out of committee on Thursday. The bill will now head to the Senate floor for a vote.
