| STATEMENT FROM SENATE MAJORITY LEADER AMY KOCH ON PASSAGE OF VOTER PHOTO IDENTIFICATION BILL IN THE MINNESOTA SENATE | ||||||||||||
Senate Majority Leader Amy Koch (R-Buffalo) released the following statement after passage in the Minnesota Senate of election modernization legislation, including requiring a voter to present a state-issued photo identification card.
“Fair and transparent elections are essential to the functioning of our representative government. Poll after poll shows that the overwhelming majority of Minnesotans support a photo ID requirement to vote.
It’s simply common sense to expect voters to prove their identity and residence. This legislation will dramatically improve the public confidence in the integrity of Minnesota’s election system.”
