| STATEMENT FROM SENATE MAJORITY LEADER AMY KOCH ON PASSAGE OF SENATE TAX BILL | ||||||||||||
(St. Paul) – Senate Majority Leader Amy Koch (R-Buffalo) released the following statement after passage of the Senate Tax bill, the final component of the complete budget plan offered by the Minnesota Senate Republican Majority Caucus.
“The new Majority party in the Minnesota Senate has been hard at work from day one of the 2011 Legislative Session and as a result, we find ourselves weeks ahead of where the prior Majority was one year ago. After meeting our self-imposed deadlines, we have now passed each committee’s omnibus bills after rigorous and thorough debate by the full Minnesota Senate.
The Senate Tax bill passed today by the Minnesota Senate charts a new direction for tax policy and sends a message that Minnesota is open for business. The Senate Majority Republican Caucus has produced and passed a complete budget plan. We did what we said we were going to do: make sure government lives within its means, by balancing the state budget with existing resources, without raising taxes.”
