| SENATOR CARLSON’S BANK EXPANSION BILL SIGNED INTO LAW | ||||||||||||
ST. PAUL – Governor Mark Dayton signed into law Thursday a bill that allows for the expansion of an Ultima Bank branch in Northern Township, just outside Bemidji. Senator John Carlson (R-Bemidji) was the Chief Author of the legislation, Senate File 125. Representative John Persell (DFL-Bemidji) carried the House companion bill.
"It came to my attention that one of our local job providers needed legislative approval to expand," stated Senator Carlson. "By making government move at the speed of commerce, we can achieve business expansion and job creation in a time when we need it most."
A banking facility desiring to establish a detached facility must obtain legislative approval, outlined in Minnesota Statutes, sections 47.51-47.57.
After passing unanimously in both chambers, Senate File 125 was presented to the Governor on March 14 and signed into law on March 17.
