| SENATE REPUBLICAN MAJORITY CAUCUS ANNOUNCES BUDGET TARGETS | ||||||||||||
(St. Paul) -- Leaders of the Senate Republican Majority Caucus have announced their budget targets for their forthcoming proposal to solve the state’s budget deficit. The overall budget spending level is set at roughly $34 billion for the 2012-13 biennial budget. Senator Paul Gazelka (R-Brainerd) released the following statement regarding the budget targets.
“Today we reaffirmed our commitment to reining in runaway government spending and lay the foundation for private sector job growth. Our budget targets reduce spending by 13% while still increasing our support in critical areas like education and public safety. Minnesota families and businesses have been making tough decisions to live within their means and government should do the same,” said Senator Gazelka. “Brainerd and its surrounding communities cannot afford any more job loss – we need to stimulate the private economy by reducing government spending and relieving the tax burden on job creators.”
Senator Gazelka was elected to his first term in November 2010. Senator Gazelka can be reached at: 651-296-4875 (office) or sen.paul.gazelka@senate.mn.
