| SENATOR JOHN CARLSON APPOINTED TO IRON RANGE RESOURCES AND REHABILITATION BOARD | ||||||||||||
(ST. PAUL) State Senator John Carlson (R-Bemidji) was appointed to the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board (IRRRB) in a Senate Rules Committee meeting Monday. Following the appointment, Senator Carlson issued the following statement:
It is an honor to be appointed to the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board. I am excited to participate and serve within this agency as we work toward business, community and workforce development. I look forward to reforming and enhancing the relationships between businesses and state agencies as we seek to get development projects started and grow more jobs.
The Iron Range Resources & Rehabilitation Board is composed of 13 members: five state senators appointed by the Subcommittee on Committees of the Rules Committee of the Senate; five representatives, appointed by the speaker of the House of Representatives; and three members appointed one each by the senate majority leader, the speaker of the House of Representatives, and the governor. These members must be non-legislators who reside in the Taconite Assistance Area. Members are appointed in January of every odd-numbered year and serve until January of the next odd-numbered year (source: IRRRB).
Senator Carlson will serve with fellow Senators Paul Gazelka (R-Brainerd), Tom Bakk (DFL-Cook), Tom Saxhaug (DFL-Grand Rapids) and David Tomassoni (DFL-Chisholm).
