| SENATOR GRETCHEN HOFFMAN APPOINTED AS MAJORITY CAUCUS ASSISTANT FLOOR WHIP | ||||||||||||
ST. PAUL) – State Senator Gretchen Hoffman (R-Vergas) has been appointed to assist Majority Caucus Whip Chris Gerlach (R-Apple Valley) for the 2011-12 Legislative Session. Following the appointment, Senator Hoffman issued the following statement:
“I am very honored to be chosen for this very important role in the caucus. For my constituents it means that I will have a very in-depth knowledge of the issues put before us this session and I will be able to use that knowledge to communicate those issues to the people back home, in addition to my colleagues here in St. Paul. ” said Senator Hoffman.
Assistant floor whips work with the Majority Caucus Whip to communicate information to other members of a Party Caucus during a floor debate and prior to a vote. Majority Caucus Whip Chris Gerlach gave the following statement about their importance this session.
“Senate Republicans’ gain of 16 seats in the last election – adding 21 freshmen members – means communication is both more difficult and necessary for a well-run floor session,” said Senator Gerlach. “Our group will serve both a basic planning and strategic role for the Caucus.”
Senator Hoffman will serve with fellow Senators Carla Nelson (R-Rochester), Ted Lillie (R-Lake Elmo) and Sean Nienow (R-Cambridge).
Senator Hoffman was elected to her first term in November 2010. Senator Hoffman can be reached at: 651-296-5655 (office) or sen.gretchen.hoffman@senate.mn.
