Latz Named DFL Lead on the Judiciary and Public Safety Committee

State Senator Ron Latz has been designated by his Senate DFL Caucus colleagues as the lead DFL member on the Senate’s Judiciary and Public Safety Committee.

Sen. Latz was re-elected to represent Senate District 44 on November 2. He served two terms in the Minnesota House, representing District 44A.

“The Judiciary and Public Safety Committee members hear and decide on bills that affect crime and how we protect the public,” Sen. Latz said. “Serving as the lead Democrat of this committee suits my legal background well,” he noted. “I look forward to working on legislation that will protect all Minnesotans.”

He will also serve on the Higher Education committee.

“I look forward to continuing my work to make college tuition more affordable for students and stop the constant creep of tuition increases we have experienced over the past 10 years,” Latz said. “We face some challenges in higher education, but some opportunities as well.

“Overall these are great committee assignments,” Sen. Latz said. “I look forward to hitting the ground running as we start the 2011 session.”
