| This bill amends the
Minnesota Constitution with an equal rights provision. The amendment
provides that equality of rights under the law may not be abridged or denied by
the state or a political subdivision on account of gender. The proposed
amendment would be placed on the ballot at the 2002 general election and, if
ratified by the voters, would become effective November 1, 2004. Senator Richard Cohen, DFL-St. Paul, authored Sente File 0317.
