| Primary Responsibilities: |

Answers phone, routes calls, answers questions and receives visitors

Attends community and agency meetings on Senator's behalf and works with stakeholder groups

Schedules, prepares for and administers all committee meetings
-
Takes minutes at all committee meetings, prepares committee book at session completion for legal purposes
-
Opens and sorts mail
-
Conducts research on issues
-
Responds to information requests
-
Maintains the Senator’s schedule and coordinates meetings, in and out of the office
-
Composes letters, memos, reports, forms, newsletters
-
Conducts research for constituent correspondence and relaying information to interested parties
-
Provides direction to interns and committee pages
-
Tracks status and progress of all authored bills, submits hearing requests and coordinates follow up meetings
-
Maintains constituent database
-
Maintains Senator’s secondary webpage
-
Updates and maintains calendar
-
Other duties as assigned

| Qualifications: |
-
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
-
Strong public relations skills and ability to deal with conflict
-
Excellent keyboarding skills
-
Demonstrated self-starter
-
Strong organizational ability and good judgment
-
Good knowledge of grammar, punctuation, spelling, and composition
-
Prior legislative experience highly desirable
-
Ability to work long hours
