| Primary Responsibilities: |
-
Provides nonpartisan research, analysis, fiscal, budgetary and programmatic information for members of the Senate and the public.
-
Reviews existing budgetary policy and develops budget alternatives in response to legislator and committee requests.
-
Monitors revenues, operations, and expenditures in state agencies and programs.
-
Analyzes budgetary information requiring an understanding of various state, local, and federal government programs.
-
Provides fiscal analysis and staff services as well as legislative oversight to Senate members, finance committees and budget divisions.
-
Analyzes statistical and accounting information prepared as supplements to budget documents.
-
Uses statistical applications to analyze data sets.
-
Analyzes the fiscal impact of legislative proposals.
-
Drafts proposed legislation and amendments.
-
Presents fiscal analysis in committee hearings and other public meetings.

| Qualifications: |
-
Four-year college degree required, master's degree preferred.
-
Experience in budgeting, management analysis, or a related field.
-
Strong analytic and quantitative skills.
-
Strong communications skills, ability to adapt to changing priorities, and ability to manage multiple projects.
-
Knowledge of federal, state, and local government organizations and functions.
-
Knowledge of statistical research principles, practices, and procedures.
-
Competence in automated word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, and presentations.
-
Experience with SAS, SPSS, or other comparable statistical applications.
-
Ability to present information clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
-
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with legislators and others.
-
Ability to maintain composure and work cooperatively under the pressure of tight deadlines.
