Office:   Secretary of the Senate, Senate Information Systems Office Reports To:   Director of Senate Information Systems
Primary Responsibilities:  
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining web based applications

  • Evaluating user requests for new programs, or complex modifications to existing programs

  • Performing research and gathering relevant data regarding feasibility, cost and time parameters

  • Preparing detailed program specifications

  • Developing and entering coding for existing systems as well as testing and debugging programs

  • Creating programming documentation

  • Building relational database applications incorporating SQL data with web site content utilizing PHP and other programming languages

  • Monitoring ongoing program and system performance

Qualifications:  
  • BA in computer programming, or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of two years website programming and development experience

  • Thorough knowledge of the use and management of relational databases

  • Strong knowledge of internet tools and browsers, programming languages including HTML, PERL or C++, Visual Basic, PHP, JAVA, SQL and the latest web server and operating systems

  • Familiarity of web/database connectivity

  • Skilled in web development, analyzing information, problem solving, software performance tuning, software design, software debugging, software development, fundamentals, software documentation/testing
  • Good communications skills and attention to detail
