MINNESOTA'S PROGRAMS FOR TROUBLED GAMBLERS

by Patrick J. McCormack

This 1994 report provides a critical overview of Minnesota's compulsive gambling treatment programs. These programs were created in 1989, in conjunction with the creation of a state lottery in Minnesota. This report criticizes the quality of research and program administrative efforts in place as of October 1994, and calls for program reforms and improvements. As a result of this report, Minnesota has since started a comprehensive effort to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment for problem gambers.
