one or more sparsely populated school attendance areas receive additional funds to meet the higher
costs of operating
schools.
–Eligibility:
–To be
eligible for secondary sparsity high schools within a district must have 400 ADMs or less and an Isolation
Index at a certain
level.
–Comprised of an
“Elementary” Sparsity formula and a “Secondary” Sparsity formula.
–To be eligible for elementary sparsity
elementary schools within a
district must be located 19 more miles from the next nearest elementary school and have 20 or fewer pupils per
grade.
–
–$16.2 million in FY 03.
–Like compensatory, elementary and secondary sparsity are keyed to formula allowance.
