S.F. No. 1690 - Modifying Provisions Governing Allocation of Money to Certain Community Action Agencies

Author: Senator Paul J. Utke

Prepared By: Joan White, Senate Counsel (651/296-3814)

Date: March 8, 2017

Section 1 (256E.30, subd. 2) modifies the funding formula allocating funds to community action agencies. Current law provides that agencies with low income populations up to 3,999 people receive $25,000, 4,000 to 23,999 receive $50,000, and 24,000 or more receives $100,000.  This bill changes the allocation so that agencies with low income populations up to 1,999 get $25,000, 2,000 to 23,999, $50,000, and over 24,000 remains the same at $100,000.

Section 2 is a blank appropriation for community action grants under section 1.

Section 3 is a blank appropriation for funding financial coaching in the Family Assets for Independence Program.
