       The bill allows any county or group of counties to become a Community Corrections Act county and participate in the community corrections subsidy program.  Under current law, only counties or groups of counties with an aggregate population of 30,000 or more are eligible to become Community Corrections counties.

       The bill is effective the day following final enactment.
