Section 1 changes the registration period for towed recreational vehicles. Current law requires that these vehicles be registered annually and taxed, based on gross vehicle weight, at 30 percent of the Minnesota base rate schedule. This bill would allow vehicle owners the option to register the vehicle for three years, for which the tax would be assessed at 90 percent of the Minnesota base rate schedule.
This section is effective immediately, and applies to taxes payable for a registration period on or after January 1, 2016.
