S.F. No. 238 - Medical Assistance-Employed Persons with Disabilities Program (First Engrossment)

Author: Senator Chris A. Eaton

Prepared By:

Date: March 24, 2015

SF 238 makes a reduction to the premiums that are required under the medical assistance–employed persons with disabilities (MA-EPD) program.  The premiums for the program were increased in law a couple years ago but were actually implemented October 1, 2014.  SF 238 reduces the premium to the amount that was in place before October 1, 2014.

Section 1 (256B.057, subd. 9) reduces the amount of the minimum premium that enrollees in the MA-EPD program must pay from $65 to $35 and reduces the additional premium amount that enrollees who receive unearned income must pay from 5 percent of the unearned income to one-half of one percent of the unearned income.  This reduction in the premiums would be effective July 1, 2015.
